At universities reports are one of the most common task being carried out. Before any new action or change in policy number of reports are being carried out. The normal procedure in KFUPM is that first a study is carried out by an individual. If the study reveals or identify some interesting observation which require some action then a committee is formed and some reports are made. These reports after the approval of the committee becomes guidelines and sometime proposal. These proposals then go to the higher management of the university for the some actions or modification in policies or structure or even creation of something new Being part of Deanship of Academic Development, i carried out few studies and also was part of committee to draft a report and even had the honor of writing proposals which in the end lead to creation of something new or changes in some existing policies. Below i have highlighted them briefly. Due to the sensitivity confidentiality of the reports, the content is not sharable in public. |

Study on Course & Instructor Evaluation System | Report on Academic Advising | ||||
Being the the administrator of Course and Instructor Evaluation system of all departmens and colleges, i carried out this study to evaluate our online evaluation system to look into the short comings of our system and how it can be improved further. As an administrator i also get lot of feedback on our evaluation system. This study also take account these comments and feedback and give some actionable suggestions. |
Academic Advising is an integral part of each student’s educational experience and at times one of the key factors to his success. A committee was formed under the direction of Vice Rector of Academic Affairs, KFUPM, to discuss the issue of Academic Adivising. This document assesses what has been done in the university in the regard of academic advising and what further can be done to improve the academic advising. The document provided some well defined actions required from each holders and outlined their responsibilities a measurable way as much as possible. |

Study on Faculty Evaluation | Report on Academic Integrity | ||||
Evaluation of a faculty at the end of each academic year is one of the most fundamental activity of the university. This study was carried out to see how different universities perform this activity. What criterions they consider and how the process is defined. In the end it was also compared with the practice we have at KFUPM. |
Academic Integrity is commonly defined as, "All academic work should result from an individual's own efforts". A committee under the guidance of Vice Rector of Academic Affairs was assessed the current policies in regard to academic integrity in the university and gave its recommendations on how to improve it. |

The institutional TOEFL® is a specific form of the Test of English as a Foreign Language. The study focussed on which university prefers which test and why. |
LAB education is considered more valuable for the learning process than the traditional classroom learning as students have more time to observe, to reflect, and to construct conceptual knowledge that underlies the laboratory experiences. The objective of this document was to assess the current state of conducting and managing and analyze what can be done further to improve LAB education for the university students. |

Governing structures for higher education are highly differentiated throughout the world. The study looked into how these governance systems compare to each other and what are strengths and benefits of each one. The study looked into number of universities around the world to have broader perspective. |
Capstone design experiences, also known as senior design projects are critical to undergraduate engineering education. A committee was formed which identified seven key areas of senior design project. The objective of this document was to assess what are current practices in regard to senior design project and what further can be done to improve the learning value of senior design project for students and increase their interest and motivation in senior design project.. |

Proposal for Institutional Research Unit | |||||
As part of its mission to assist the University in continuously improving its academic system and to help the University to provide an outstanding student experience, deanship proposed to establish a Research Unit. The research unit is to complement the efforts of Office of planning and quality by focusing in research and studies related to the mission of deanship and university by collecting, synthesizing, and analyzing data tailored to diverse issues of contemporary concern in education in support of decision making at KFUPM. The document laid out the scope, activities and structure of the research units. It also defined the objectives of the unit and value of it for the university in achieving its vision and mission. |

Proposal for the Office of Disability Services | |||||
Children suffering from any disability have the ability to live full and productive lives in the same way as other children. But they need additional support when learning. A little effort by educators in modifying their programs to take care of the disable can immensely help in improving the confidences and learning of the disables. It was suggested that university should create an office of disability services (ODS) to handle all the policies, guidelines, strategies and issues of students facing with any disability. Structure and scope of the office was also detailed in the document along with the recommendations for the departments and collges to better serve the disables. |

A Student Academic Success Center (SASC) promotes academic success and help students in achieving their educational goals. It is considered one of the most important office in the university concerned with the success of the students and their performances. The document compared the activities and programs of student success center around many universities around the world. Some evaluation of the benefits of the student success center was also mentioned along with the role of the students success center in different universities. A comparable structure was suggested for the university. |
