Received The Olive Bishop Price Scholarship in International Librarianship from Pratt Institute, New York, for graduate study in Library & Information Science, in 1977-78.
· Awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Department of Library Science, University of Karachi, on getting first class second position in M.A. in Library Science, 1972.
· Received the Best Paper Award (English) for the paper, From MARC to MARC 21 and Beyond, presented at the 8th Annual SLA-AGC Conference, held in Abu Dhabi, UAE, 24-26 October, 2000.
· Biography included in Marquis Who’s Who in the World, 16th ed. (1999) and Dictionary of International Biography (2000 ed.); Marquis Who's Who in Science and Engineering, 9th ed. (2006-07)
· Qualified for membership of Beta Phi Mu, the International Library and Information Science Honor Society on achieving a 3.83 GPA in MSLIS courses and became its Life member.
· ominated member of the Editorial Advisory Board of OCLC Systems & Services, a refereed journal published by Emerald, 2002-2004.
· Received a Plaque of Appreciation for his leading role in the implementation of the Horizon library system in 2004.
